Today, I removed the plastic from the outer skin of the left flap. I used my soldering iron and cut it into smaller sections, then pulled it off one at a time. I then dissasembled the flap, deburred the skin and the framework. Finally, I installed and match drilled the outer flap doubler. The only problem I had was with the brass bushing -- it didn't fit the 1/2" hole. I know the hole was good, because I used a 1/2" reamer to check. I chucked the bushing in the drill press with a 1/2 inch bolt and tried to turn it down a bit with a file and sandpaper. In addition, I used my hole deburring tool to enlargen the 1/2" hole slightly. All that took approximately 1 hour -- ugh.
