Brief Description:  Wing and Tank Skin Installation

Today, I completed riveting the upper wing skin and the leading edge to the spar. Then, I worked to cut out the opening for the landing light. I had marked it out by rivet patterns prior to putting the skin on, and drilled 1" holes in each corner, then cut it out with shears, and then filed up to my line. It turned out really well. Now, I'll need to make a form to bend the plexiglass, and make a doubler to hold it in place.

Next, I used my dremel tool to file down all the rivets where a part of the mandrel was still in the rivet and slightly protruding.

I then had my wife help to pull a string tight to check the centering of the flap and aileron hinges. Although they looked ok, I want to get a neighbor to help check -- my wife's eyes are not that good when doing close up work. Tomorrow, I'll build a wing stand and get it off the table.
