Today, I tried again. after several other missteps, I finally came up with a workable solution. I could have saved myself some work by putting a flange on the leading edge of the inboard reinforcement rather than riveting an angle to it. I believe after the skins etc. are installed, the assembly will be rigid enough and be very functional. The bodies are Grimes landing light assemblies I picked up at a flea market.
