Today, I took some time to glue the vibration absorbing material on the firewall. It is "Black Mat" from Aircraft Spruce and is FAA certified for firewalls. I struggled with this, as there is an active thread on Vans Air Force Forum to not put it on the inside of the firewall, but rather to fabricate layered material on the engine side. The testing shows most materials will emit noxious fumes with a fire on the other side of the firewall. Next, I spent some time wiring the trim switch and LED indicator. Since these were very small wires, #24 or smaller, I used D-sub connector pins, male and female and then put shrink wrap over them. Finally, I began to attach the ground wires to the ground terminal block.
