Brief Description:  Fitting the Cowl

Today, I began to fit the upper cowling. I quickly realized I didn't have enough cowl to do an overlap fit, especially on the pilot side. Since I had Skybolt fasteners, I made the decision to install it flush, similar to the Vans aircraft, Cessnas and others. Key is how far to put the nose of the cowling out from the prop hub. Image 3 shows the prop hub upside down. It is 2.5 inches from where the back plate goes to the face on the prop hub. Note: the four bolts for the spinner back plate are incorrect in the photo. There are longer ones in the mail. I spent the morning and afternoon trimming and installing Skybolt flanges.
