Brief Description:  blending top wing skins

I though blending the skins to make it more easy on the eyes would be a pain in the *ss but it was easier than I thought! I read a lot of VAF posts of other builders removing material from the entire chord length which is not recommended, Any removal of material will cause structural issues. The mothership advises JUST TO REMOVE THE FRONT LEADING EDGE!

I had to read the plans several times before I understood this section correctly.

What I did was measuring a 1.5" square on the bottom of outboard top skin and top of inboard skin. I then masked off the part of skin where I did not want material removed. I took a picture (#2 below) of the inboard skin TOP FRONT leading edge of removed material. I used a die grinder and carefully sanded the skin. This way is really easy to remove more than you want so PLEASE BE CAREFUL!

I then removed the same from the BOTTOM INBOARD edge of outboard skin. Once the material is removed in an "X pattern" they blend in nicely.

The objective here is to make the double thick skin into a single thickness that transitions back to the double skin as you move aft. This is so the fuel tank looks more aesthetic.
