Brief Description:  20 hour maintenance and UL warranty work

This is a big one. Let's begin with the piston slap I've been hearing and the trashed #6 cylinder. The pics say enough. UL decided to cover the parts and labor under warranty if Ray from UL Power did the work...ok! After pulling of the head on #6, the destruction was obvious and after closer inspection, Ray found that the piston was asymmetrical. I was also able to notice a good amount of play in the piston at TDC. Ugh. Well, the good news, we got it swapped out. The bad is that the sound didn't go away so there may be more going on than just slap. I decided to do a borescope of #6 after 2 hours of breakin in the new piston and didn't find any significant evidence of piston slap. All 6 cylinders have vertical scoring, but in a air cooler aircraft engine, that's pretty normal. Moving on....
I also had a defective head on Cyl #2 that UL replaced free of charge and I needed to install it so that's just what I did :) She went on easily and now it was time to take care of the 20hr maintenance which included, all new oil (6qts to fill the system), new filter (K&N), and valve adjustments. I also discovered that my thread sealant failed on one of my oil cooler fittings that was my fault due to backing off on the fitting after rotating it too far. NEVER do that they say... Anyways, I removed the fitting and added all new sealant and made sure to keep from over rotating it this time.
Finally, I started up the engine to make sure there were no leaks and all was well. I've got to fly over the blue ridge mountains this weekend with wifey to a wedding so I need total reliability.
