Brief Description:  Valve adjustments and new hardware is in

The new SS oil temp sensor adapter came in the mail today after a week of waiting. The new adapter is superb quality, with a larger hex head to make for an even better seal on the crush washer. Knowing I wasn't going to run the engine today I went ahead and used permatex teflon thread sealer like everywhere else on the bird. After re-installing the sensor I was able re-install the sandwich plate and complete the oil system installation. Tomorrow I will run the engine for a few minutes again to check for any new leaks before attempting another 30 minute test flight.
In other news, I also went ahead and adjusted all of the rocker tappets and WHOA, after just 30 minutes of running the engine, the valve clearances went from the factory setting of .004 to over .012! That's 4 times more lash than than they are suppose to have. This may have been the reason I was hearing so much valve train noise on the last flight. Hopefully this cures that. I also checked all the spark plugs and now that I'm running 100% pump gas, the plugs looked fantastic. I went ahead and installed the cylinder covers on #5 and #6 to raise the temps a bit, so we should see a smaller spread in CHT's. Looks like tomorrow I'll get to fly her again :)
