Brief Description:  A new induction box

This has to be one of my favorite updates in that I've never been able to envision a complete solution for the induction system. I knew that for racing it's ok to run without an air filter, but if I ever got caught in a dust storm, I can't even imagine what it would be doing to my cylinder walls. Not an option. I first had to calculate the needed filter size for my 317ci beast that will be puting out 200hp. A few minutes of crunching math and I had found I needed a filter that would flow at least 300CFM. I then had to hunt down a filter that would be large enough for the job but still be compact enough for the incredibly tight cowling clearances that I am forced to work with. There was hope in the future though, knowing I'd want to install a spinner soon, which meant a major change to the cowling shape on top. This change would lead to a new design of the induction system on the top of the cowl. The previous intake made a massive performance increase enough to warrant the work it takes to do it again. This time I was able to find a suitable K&N Filter that will flow 302CFM and fit nicely into a box I designed that also solves another problem I've had. Fuel vent burping :)The fuel vents terminate on top of the turtle deck and that means fuel dripping down the airframe when the tanks are full and the weather heats up. To solve this I either had to re-route my vent lines or find a better way to contain the fuel spills. I opted NOT to re-route the lines that are buried under micro, and instead designed a scoop that will come over the vents and forward of the path the fuel takes when it leaks. The fuel will then flow down into the air induction box where it will end up at a designed "low point" where there will be a small drain vent which will exit the aircraft below. This drain tube also serves as a water drain in the even that water floods the induction box. :)
