Brief Description:  Going further this time

After re-installing the heads and running the engine, I picked up a good 100 static rpm. However, after a 1 hour flight I was still experiencing excessive blow by. I then did a compression check and found that all the valves had leaks, which means the machine shop did a poor lap job. These 2 things gave me the courage to once again, remove the heads but then go further and pull all the jugs. Wanting to find the cause of the blow by, I found that all the cylinders were glazed and one significantly scuffed and may need replacing. I ordered a Flex Hone and will be honing all the cylinders and replacing the one if needed. I'm also going to be re-ringing all the pistons. On top of that, I'll be returning the heads to the machine shop so they can go back through them and lap them correctly this time.
When all is said and done, I'll have a like new engine that I can break in properly this time by running it on break in oil (Contrary to UL Powers recommendation) and hard under 5000ft.
Here's to hope for a better running engine. Boy do I feel like the test subject for these engines...
