If it wasn't 100 degrees outside and I lived up North I'd probably leave this oil cooler business alone, but I need better temps so out came the Fein Tool. My first intention was to open the mouth of the naca a bit more to see if it would help, and I "may" but in the end a good pressure recovery scoop is always going to work best and a scoop is a fool proof way to lower these temps. no one will argue that. Add to that I've found that dumping the air into the cowl has produced the lowest temps of all I've tried over the last 2 years which tells me I really don't need to worry about a draggy complicated exit duct any longer. For now, I will decide by tomorrow if I'm going to be designing a new scoop or trying to get this naca working. ...
