Brief Description:  Aliens have abducted my ez

Well, last night I saw a bright white light outside my bedroom window right before an alien appeared and told me that they have abducted my ez and cursed it with high oil temps. I can't believe it, it's true. Adding a second oil cooler actually made my oil temps worse! My conclusion on the installation and reasoning behind it is this:

After installing the second cooler, I took off and immediately noticed an increase in climb rate. hmmm. I then noticed my oil temps quickly going to redline before reaching 4500ft. What I believe is happening is the second oil cooler is acting as an air dam. The thick oil cooler cores makes it touch to force air through them, which is why a NACA is not a good solution for oil coolers. Truly, a scoop is needed or some other form of ramming high pressure air through the cooler core. By adding the second cooler, I was actually reducing the amount of air being forced into the NACA and therefore reducing cooling drag which is why on a 90 degree day I was seeing really good climb rates.

At this point I only have 2 options left. I can either fabricate and install a belly scoop or fabricate an exit plenum that directs the exit air into a known low pressure area. I'm undecided at this point and a little jaded, but soon I should be awarded an honorary PhD on how to keep your oil temps boiling! :) In the meantime, the little green men haven't left me alone...
