Brief Description:  Bid and Micro over vane

While waiting for the new -8 oil line, I dry fit and installed the naca duct turning vane. This vane is curved for better airflow than the first version and is bonded in place using 1 ply bid on the sides both top and bottom and then a thin radius layer of micro to smooth out the surface and transition. Smooth airflow is critical in here as every degree of oil temp reduction is valuable.
After applying the micro in a 100 degree hangar I was curious to see what the exotherming temp of the resin in the mixing cup was getting to and was shocked to see it go over 200 degrees! That can damage foam and glass layups! no wonder Burt insisted on thin consecutive layers rather than large thick layers.
After cure I'll be sanding and contouring this puppy and then applying a fresh layer of primer..maybe :) Well, depends on how much longer I'll be waiting for the oil line to arrive ;)
