Brief Description:  New plugs

My last flight was an evening flight under the stars on Christmas Eve. As I pulled out onto runway 27, a 5,000 foot strip, I throttled up and rotated at 60kts IAS. I could tell my climb was very shallow and my engine was not making it's HP. In fact, only 2200 rpm on climbout. At the end of the runway, my EFIS said, "warning, terrain ahead." Needless to say, after landing, I grounded the aircraft. I cleaned my plugs no less more than 10 hrs ago, but low CHT's and a rich mixture trashed them again. GR! stupid UL power engineers who aren't even pilots have no clue how airplane engines need to operate. My only choice is to pull all the plugs and modify my plenums again in order to raise my CHT's and even them out.
I pulled the plenums, and all the plugs, to find them severely fouled again. This time, I won't be cleaning these, instead I put all new plugs in. I have a plug cleaner coming in the mail to sand blast the original plugs but what this engine really needs is a whole new fuel mapping. Knowing UL power doesn't give a crap about that, I've contracted a company to develop a new ECU for me and will also be available to all UL Power engine owners no later than Oshkosh 2016. before I pull my engine and ship it off, I will be hacking the Intake temp sensor to see if I can trick the engine into running leaner at least while I'm at idle. We will see if it helps. And to confirm the mixture, I went a bought an o2 sensor and guage and will use it the same way Klaus uses his. One way or another, this engine WILL run correctly as I plan on being married to it for another decade or so.
Before replacing the plugs I flooded the combustion chamber with Mopar Top end cleaner for a good overnight soak. This stuff has good reviews and I'm hoping it cleans things up a bit.
