Brief Description:  I needed some good news

After all of todays bad news I really needed some good news. Well my test flight showed that I'm on the right path with my oil temp solution :) I've done away with dual VG's and started trying singles to direct the center of the vortex right down the naca opening and it's working. The best dual VG setup I had lowered my oil temp by 4 degrees. Today I tried a single 1/2" tall VG and the temps went down 9 degrees! Over twice the drop with less drag. No top speed penalty either. I've now made a 2" x 1" tall VG to see how much more of the boundry layer I can work for my benefit. Taller is showing to be better. I've read that the boundry layer is about 1.5" just ahead of the cowling so a 1" VG should be able to show some improvement even over the 1/2". Again, I'm looking for cruise temps in the 220's on a warm day without having to build and incorporate an oil cooler exit duct, although that may have to happen. We. Shall. See.
