Brief Description:  Engine run up and test flight

Well, I got the chance to run the engine up with the cowling on and test fly the beast after almost 5 months of being down. I ran the engine with the intake plenum both open and closed to see if the oil cooler was going to be too restrictive on the engine. The funny thing was that opening it up actually caused a loss of RPM. I'll consider it a fluke for now. The bad news is that while UL Power was able to fix the stuttering from idle to about 1300rpm, the throttle response above that is now worse than its ever been. Even moving the throttle slowly produced terrible hesitation. To add to that, I've lost almost 200 static RPM! Almost like they were never tuning my ecu to begin with. Tomorrow I'm going to remove and clean all the spark plugs, remove the intake tube and see if performance gets better.

I also decided to take her around the pattern once in order to test my oil temps and saw that they went up to 247 and just stopped there. I'm guessing that the engine is not requiring enough air to sufficiently cool the oil meaning I'll need to remove the plenum and allow the oil cooler air to dump outide the cowling. Not a huge deal, but finding a good place for the intake air and building it will take some time. Man, this is becoming the never ending project...
