Brief Description: Another Leak!
|
|
Before closing up the fuel pump housing I zip tied the new filters and thought I'd pressurize the system 1 time to verify that all was well and BOY AND I GLAD I DID. When running Pump 2, I noticed a REALLY small wet spot under the fitting just after the pump. a LEAK! Good golly, another one! This one was small and slow, and I was shocked how much force I had to put on the wrenches in order to tighten even more. I got a good 1/8 - 1/4 of a turn out of it, and ran it up again to find the leak had stopped. Only Thing I can think of is that I assembled this stuff in the hot summer weather and now that it's cold, parts don't fit like that did a few months ago. I went through all the other fittings and snugged em up while I was at it. The engine has had a stutter when throttling up really fast that UL Power suspects is air getting into the fuel line. I can't see how this would have done it, but it may have been. We will see when I fire up the engine again. I've also noticed that Pump #2 seems stronger and smoother than Pump #1, leading me to think that either the Relay on pump 1 is robbing voltage from the pump, or the pump may need to be swapped out. Again, this will show up when I run the engine again. For now, things are snug and dry. NO MORE LEAKS PLEASE!
