Brief Description:  Cowls get glass work for support

Not using a stiffener inside the cowling means the trailing edges are a bit too flexible for flight. Instead of adding the stiffeners, I opted for a 4 ply layup that will act as a tab to joing the lower and upper cowlings. After the 4 ply BID layup cures, it will be trimmed down and a nut plate will be added to the new tab and allow an 8-32 screw to hold both trailing edges together. The final version of these cowls will be made in Carbon Fiber and Kevlar and will also incorporate a trailing edge joiner to create a smooth trailing edge from wing to wing. This cowl however will be fine without it. After this mod is done, the prop goes on, and the airplane flies. SO EXCITED! Wednesday she will be airborne :) 9 Months of mods, and now she gets to live again where she belongs...
