Brief Description:  Cooler Scoop round 4

Yesterdays flight was wonderful but these oil temps are boggling my mind. How the HECK are they still 240 with a massive draggy scoop??? Well, It's starting to seem like its more related to air not finding it's way OUT of the cooler well enough. That, however cannot be addressed yet. For now, how about a larger scoop, built like it's suppose to be?? ok lets do it.
Rule 1. Entry is 2/3 the size of the cooler face.
Rule 2. Rounded leading edges
Rule 3. Chamber inside expands before getting to the scoop
Rule 4. Above the Boundry layer. (1")
Rule 5. Low drag aft end to keep air flow laminar.
Rule 6. Entry must be in Front of Cowling lip

I made a base first that will lift it off the boundry layer and ahead of the cowl/fuse intersection. I then added more foam until I got a 2 x5 inlet with rounded edges. I then dug out the interior with it in halves, glassed 2 plies UNI on the inside then put it together and baked it for 15 minutes which cured it more than I thought! Next, I attached it to the cowling, contouring it up nicely and lay up 1 ply bid tape at the base and 2 plies carbon over the foam.
This monster should get me down to Texas no problem, but will probably cost me 50 kts!!!! LOL
UGH, I wonder if I'm using the wrong Oil Sensor settings. LOL> wouldn't that be the day!
