Brief Description:  Final mold sanding, wax, and carbon

The filler was sanded down to the best contour I could do. It's very hard to tell a surface is smooth and symetrical when it's multicolored and has no sheen. I went ahead and put turtle wax over the entire mold, then laid up 1 ply of Carbon that WILL be the cowling. It isn't perfect and will still need a small amount of filler to bring out the symetry, but again this is most likely the first version of the cowling and not the last. I also want to mention that while I'm laying up this Carbon, the FedEx truck delivers more resin to my doorstep JUST IN TIME. I was literally scraping the bottom of the cup to get every ounce of Resin out to finish this layup. BARELY enough! I was going to lay up a second ply and would have had it not been for the Resin, but I'm glad I didn't as there are some obvious areas around the border that will need to be leveled out BEFORE adding any more plies. Tomorrow I will pop this one off, remove the mold, clean everything up and bring it home for the second and third ply of carbon. I'm REALLY glad to have the beginnings of a cowling. I'm itching to fly this thing!
