Brief Description:  Aileron glass

The micro was cured enough to layup the glass on the leading edge of the aileron.

Step 1: Add 2 plies BID tape over exposed foam on upper skin only. (This replaced the 2 plies glass that was removed)

Step 2: Layup 1 ply BID at 45 lapping (2) inches onto the top skin and over the counterbalance then back 1 inch over the bottom skin. The skin removed on the under skin was 1/4" to instead of a thin 2 ply layer of glass I trenched is out and made a flox transition between counterbalance and skin. This provides a stong connection but ALSO adds weight to the leading edge that will most likely NEED weight in order to balance properly. I'm assuming however that this aileron will be much lighter than the other one.

Step 3: Peel ply all glass transitions.

Note: The Aileron at this point weighs only 4lbs 10oz. There is VERY little glasswork left and only 3 hinge halves to rivet. I am guessing that after filler and primer this aileron is going to come in at less than 6 lbs. At least 1 pound lighter than the other aileron.....which makes me wonder what MESS in under the other ailerons skin...
