Brief Description: Full Wet sand and detailing

|
To begin, I got to sand and contour the new urethane primer using 180 grit dry. It didn't cut as fast as I was assuming it would but it was much nicer than sanding epoxy primer. I am tempted to go down to 80 grit next time as I really think this stuff could easily fill those scratches. But the top cowling is now ready for final white primer. I will most likely finish it off using the epoxy primer because it will see UV rays, but the lower cowling will get the new Urethane White primer when it arrives. I then took a sheet of 3M 320 grit, a sponge, and sanded the whole top surface again, getting all the overspray off and last night's round of primer down. Now she was ready for a soap and water bath. After bath time, I jumped inside the cabin and thoroughly cleaned the interior with alcohol and water, carefully avoiding any plexiglass. Boy that stuff cleans! I still have a bit of touch up paint work, which will get my attention tomorrow. I also headed into the engine bay and wiped down everything my eye could see and before I knew it, you couldn't tell I had done so much sanding. A spray bottle of alcohol is a powerful tool :). I also removed the air filter, cleaned out the air box, and filter, then re-installed it all. So it looks like Monday is move day. I still have some small tasks, like making 2 new rudder cables, but I should be ready to hit the airport by Monday afternoon. I will then dedicate the shop space to cowls, wheel pants, the canopy finishing, and prop balancing, most likely taking me through the week until my pipes arrive. And then....she FLIES.
