Brief Description:  What the heck, why not

The rule about a Matte finish is that there is no "spot" repair. The whole panel must be re-finished. Knowing this, I thought I'd give it a shot anyways and it may prove to be useful. I decided to wet sand the whole surface using a red scotchbrite pad and found that it smoothed out the uneven clear without really affecting the sheen and the scratch marks weren't visible by any means. hmmm, does this mean a matte finish could still be in the running? Well, I've had to re-paint a couple places and will go back over these tomorrow with 1 last round of thick matte clear coat. If I can get acceptable repairs blended in and smooth out the surface texture using a scotchbrite pad, we may be back in matte business. We shall see. I also sprayed the final coats of steel paint on the tips in prep for their clear coat as well. She's gonna fly this week :)
