Brief Description:  Almost a home run, then struck out

The day started out with a high motivation to finish up this canopy. I found I could remove the tape on the interior paint after waiting only 2 hours from the last coat of Satin Black. I also found that the paint did NOT wrinkle as it did before so I've decided to stick with the hammered look. I applied 1 last coat of Satin and after 2 hours I peeled off all the tape and plastic. Another home run on the tape line :) I then spent 2 hours cleaning, finessing, polishing and tidying up the glass and paint. I also wanted to add weather stripping prior to packing it up for the airport so I added the strip that I THOUGHT would work. Here is where the day got "Fun." The weather stripping is VERY soft but when you use 15 ft of it, it takes substantial pressure to close it down. After placing the canopy onto the fuse for a trial fit, I made a mistake that I'm glad I made. I used a LOT of force on the hinge latches to try and Press the canopy down on the foam stips and compress them. This force was enough to cause a very dangerous potential problem to show up with my latching system. Due to the construction involved, the details will be listed under the canopy section of this log.
