So I've heard "all things come together for the good..." and here is living proof. The wrinkled paint ended up being a Huge winner. I sanded down the paint again this morning and sprayed a nice thick 2nd coat of satin black and watched the mess unravel. Mind you this is only 24 hours after the first coat so the wrinkling was obvious. What a piece of art! After letting this cure for a couple hours I wet sanded it with a 0000 Steal wool pad and the results are amazing. Smooth textured look and feel with the glow of Satin. It's a little more charcoal than black but I'm in love. It looks like aged, cracked leather and the best news is that it WON"T need a clear coat. It hides imperfections even better than the hammered did and repair work will be super ez. I also did some paint tests wiith the 2 whites I have and they are VERY close so it's undecided which I will use. I also found that using the steal wool takes the shine out of glossy paint negating the need to pick a satin finish. This is too cool!
