So the canopy started out with quite a bit of filler before I skim coated it, so after I finished block sanding I actually had to sand down some of the filler as well so almost all of the skim coat was removed. No big deal I just think skimming may be something for larger area jobs that have a lot of exposed glass and pin holes. The canopy was not one of them however the skim coating DID fill all the major holes that existed. I then added a bead of filler at the glass/frame transition with a nice radius. at this point however, I am conviced that until I get this thing to 1 uniform color, I will have no way of really knowing how the contouring is turning out, so I'll be brushing on some primer later for a guide coat.
