Brief Description:  Primer round 3 and control surface prep

Today wasn't a very fun day because this process of fill/sand/prime is kinda boring. I will say that sanding the wing all over with a 60 grit sponge proved to be more effective at removing material than an of my block sanding efforts. The down side is that you obviously can't contour with a sponge, but that wasn't my goal. After final blocking of the wing a few final pin holes and low spots were filled and then the sponge was used to bring the entire wing to a uniform texture. I was amazed how well it tackled the 36 grit scratches left by the blocking. The wing will now be covered up with plastic until it get final sanding on monday.
The other task today was to prep the control surfaces for primer. I did this and then hung them up for the first round of primer. All went well until I found literally hundreds of pinholes in the aileron. Of course! I didn't skim coat the aileron due to weight reasons. What a difference! Well, the pinholes were so rediculous that I decided to go ahead and skim the surface with west systems knowing that I'll be sanding all of it off tomorrow. I added a little micro to the mix in order to see where the "white" pin holes were and to verify that they were getting filled but After the epoxy was setting up I saw that I missed some. Oh well, The aileron will take some extra TLC, no big deal. On the other hand, the skim coated rudder was ready for primer in no time!
Tomorrow I will work to get both the rudder and aileron finished up and primed so that monday will be final sanding and installation.
