Brief Description:  Sanding the primer

As in love with the epoxy primer as I am, it pains me to block sand it down. Glad I did, however as it did a fabulous job exposing ALL the imperfections. A light pass with a long block and 180 grit showed it all. It's amazing what you can't see that is still there. I was a little concerned with the build film of the primer due to reducing it but I am NOT anymore. This stuff went on perfectly smooth and a lot thicker than expected. It took quite a bit of sanding to get down to the skim coat. Now I would say at this point the wing is 95% finished in contour.
I went ahead and circled any left over pin holes or deep low spots and mixed some micro to fill. After the micro cures I will sand it smooth and prep for the final coats of primer. At this point I am TOTALLY sold on Kirker Enduro Prime. It's very affordable and application was a breeze. Oh ya and it sands wonderfully after 24 hours of cure.
The next step here is going to applying 1 more coat of black primer. The black serves as a guide coat in a way as it REALLY shows everything while sanding. As soon as I block this next coat, then the grey will be applied. I'm thinking I may not go white for test flights for the reason that I really don't want to paint a black airplane over white primer as it may take too much paint for full coverage. Instead it would be much easier to scuff the grey and spray. I'll have to do the some temp tests to see if it will heat up too much.
More later....
