Brief Description:  New tip hardpoints

Today was cool. With so much work coming down the pipeline for 323 Composites, I need the extra help and have found that help with my friend Laura. During the composite construction course I gave last week, she demonstrated a keen eye for detail and precision. These are two non-negotiables in this business of flying. I'm very glad to have her help for those days coming that include 14hr major layup schedules and large wet multi-ply layups.
While Laura was tidying up her project, I was over at my canard installing a hardpoint for the new tip idea. The hardpoints are made of 1/4" poplar, with 8-32 nutplates riveted and floxed in place. The hardpoint is then pressed in place using ezpoxy flox and layed up using 2 plies BID. After cure, a micro fill will be used to flush out the end of the canard. At that point, the test tips made of 1/4" poplar and glass, will be shaped to match the canards contour and used in the future as templates for other tip designs. Making and testing new tips will be a breeze now that they simply bolt on. This is getting fun :)
