Brief Description:  Time to catch up

Well as I wait for my canopy gas springs to arrive I thought it would be wise to finish up the canard glass work. The x-30 foam was added in 2 steps, carved, contoured, slurried and glassed with 2 plies for both the front and rear parts. I then did some measuring and realized that if I EVER want to add a garmin 430W to my panel, then the pitch trim NC-5 would need to be moved to the left by 1". So I then removed the NC-5 and replaced it with a stronger JB Weld/Flox and am very pleased with the modification. I had to trim a little on the lower longeron to accomidate however it will be glassed again for strength. Prior ro prime and paint, all the parts will be sanded smooth unlike what is seen in the pics. After the NC-5 was finished placed the canard back on to the fuselage for fit and finish and sanded all areas well enough to accomidate the fill and paint . The canard was then removed and the elevators removed. I then took the canard and weighed it to ensure that the previous builder didn't get the layups too heavy and was pleased to see a spot on 21lbs. Good enough for me :)
