Brief Description:  Shoot the man!

So this job of "assembling the elevators" and floxing in the stops should have taken MAYBE 2 hours. NOPE. try 8. Let's see, can you guess why? yep. The previous builder thought he could build an airplane without a ruler. SHOOT HIM!
So after squeezing, filing, cutting, sanding, bending and every other form of work that can be performed with a set of 2 hands I was able to get the hinge pin through all the holes. Except there was a LOT of friction. I called the best people on planet earth for help: Robert and Valerie Harris. And their advise was "SO rebelious" I loved it! It was literally, "Washers in the Roncz canard?? Get rid of em!" LOL> so basically, all of the thin washers that were creating the friction were thrown out. Love it! This solved most of the problem but not all and there was a lot of elbow grease that I'd rather not go into detail about. I will say though, that Now the elevators are silky smooth.
The next Giant "CRAP" was getting the 30 degrees down and 15 degrees up. Apparently my Iphone Clinometer app was WAY off tonight for some reason. I had to run and get the template to fine tune the angles. So get this, the Roncz plans don't include Pitch stops. SO WEIRD! I just designed my own and was able to get both 30 and 15. Stoked! in fact I could get more but that's unnecessary. I also found a REALLY cool way to remove the hinge pins that's better than the plans. (Take and small wire or guitar string and run it through the hole, Then wrap the wire around a pipe a few times and pull on the pipe. No scratches, dings or damage. Bam! I added loctite to the 10-24 set screws, and gave her a good wash. I then coated my wood stops with a thin layer of epoxy to keep moisture out. She is ready to wrapped up till final assembly.
