Brief Description:  Firewall accessories

The Firewall really needs to be permanently installed before building up the canopy for several reasons. For now, until more x-30 and the new canopy arrives, there is plenty to do in prepparing the firewall. Ideally, all holes, screws, and markings can be made PRIOR to installation so you're not drilling an installed firewall. I've opted to use a Stainless Steel firewall instead of aluminum for cosmetic and durability reasons, so drilling won't be as easy later on. After marking the correct BL and WL locations I found that the aileron torque and bearing would conflict with the updated extrusions. However, 1/4" to the left and all is well. This should have no affect on throws when properly setup...more later... I also noticed that at the correct WL, the torque tube did not protrude from the right passenger armrest as much as I assumed. This is good news as less modification will be required to cover it. IF I had mounted the control bearings per plans I wouldnt have this issue at all. No big deal, just a lesson learned. :) Finally, the jury is still out on whether to replace the lower CS71 Bellcrack with a phenolic Pulley or to build per plans. The cable MUST not interfere with the aileron torque tube or pushrod and my fear is that the geometry of the pulley would be a problem. More later...
