Brief Description:  Maybe?

A $1000 set of vehicle scales that have mixed reviews but more positive than negative and I get an empty weight of 924lbs. The scales set up really nice and tare to zero every time. HOWEVER, the only way this weight could be accurate is if the Filler and finishing work that I did was heavier than a standard "micro" finsihed ez. I know that Z-Grip is heavier than Micro, but I didn't think it would be adding 50-75lbs worth especially when my wings came in only 5lbs more than Rutans! This of course would be the only way to explain my ability to park nose up so easily. In other words, the added weight is spread out over the entire airframe rather than on the firewall like a LYC install would. IF this 924 is accurate then I've built a slightly chubby airframe that's slick as butter and contoured like glass! Knowing what Wayne Blackler's empty weight is, also makes me feel a lot better considering he's one of the fastest there is. It's not all Weight, but DRAG REDUCTION.
For now, the best news is that even at 924, I can load up the bird anyway I want and still be well within CG and Gross weight. Next and MOST important is how she flies....and that is REALLY all that matters :)
Next time she gets weighed will be over Certified Aircraft scales and grease plates.
