Brief Description: Wingroot layups are in and hardware prepped
The interior layups for the wingroot are now complete. 3 Plies BID. I also really focused on ensuring that the wingroot bearings and torque tubes were a perfect fit. When the torque tubes arrive new from the Cozy Girls, they are CAD plated which adds just enough OD that they no longer fit a true bearing insert. For this reason you can either remove the CAD plating and guarantee yourself a whole lot of rust, or modify the bearings ID. I chose the later. To do so correctly, I opted for a 5/8" hone. After about 90 seconds of running the hone through the bearings, the fit of the torque tubes and bearings was perfect. Enough clearance to slide in with little effort, but not so much that play becomes a concern. By far the best way to tackle this common issue. I also modified the bearing housing diameter to ensure they would fit the wingroot in the precise location as laid out in the plans.
