Brief Description:  Started Assembling the Rudder Structure

Fit the rudder horn, lower rib to the rudder spar. When I drilled out the 3/8 dia hole on the lower rib, it tore out the edge of the rib flange. I decided since it wasn't a critical joint to simply trim out the torn hole to make it a u-shaped opening that faces away from the web of the rib. It is sandwiched between the spar and rudder horn, so it does nothing structurally. I cut and fit the spacer that goes between the rudder horn and spar to take up the space that the lower rib creates by being sandwiched. Drilled that joint and clecoed it together. Fluted the top rib and counterweight rib. Clecoed those to the spar and drilled them. Clecoed on the rudder counterweight skin and final drilled that. This is getting entirely too fast. I must be learning something. Next step is to cleco on the skins and final drill them. I'll do that another day. I need to go in and tuck my daughter in to bed.
