Brief Description:  Trouble with the Skins on the HS

When I tried to cleco the left HS skin to its frame, the leading edge of the ribs interfered with the skin in the condition it came from the factory. If I tried to force the skin over the ribs, the ribs would bend. So, after a significant amout of head scratching, I decided to unbend the skin. I removed the skin from the frame and clamped one face of the skin down to my work table with a handle from my broom pushed as far up into the leading edge radius as it would go. When I tried to unbend the skin without the broom handle it appeared that the bend was going to take place on the flat portion of the skin at about the tangent point of the LE radius not in the LE radius itself. That would have left a goofy looking crease or cusp on the LE. Hence the broom handle crammed to the leading edge trick. I then place a piece of wood on the clamped face to hold down the portion of the skin clamped to the table. I had to do that because the skin still tried to rotate around my broom stick clamp when I tried to unbend the skin without it. Took another piece of wood and pushed on the free face of the skin from the inside as close to the LE radius as I could. I "gently" unbent the LE radius a bit. It's amazing how strong .032 thick aluminum is when it has been cold worked a bit. Flipped the skin over and did the same thing on the other side to make sure the unbend was even. Time to see if it worked.
