Brief Description:  Dimpler Fail

Well, had a bit of a set back as I began dimpling the skins. All was going smoothly until SNAP! the handle of the DRDT2 broke at the pivot location. Fortunately, when the handle came down it did not impact the skins, as that could have been bad. This is unfortunate as it will be a challenge to replace. I will contact Experimental Aero to seek a replacement part.

UPDATE: Talked to Paul Merems at Experimental Aero, the actual designer/producer of the DRDT2. We talked for quite a while and he was very helpful. Since I am not the original owner of the dimpler, I was not ware that there should be a pin that sits at the base of the handle that prevents over extention of the handle in the down position. I had noticed a slight hole and crack at that location when I first aquired the unit, but it did not look like it was an issue. Paul explained that failires of his DRDT2 are extremely rare, and out of the thousands he's sold only had a hand full of issues, and those are more than not due to operator error. Anyways, he was able to sort me out and there's a new part in the mail. Should arrive here in the next week or so.
