Whilst aligning the gear legs (see next part of the log) I noted bubbling under the powder coating on the edges that I had not noticed 12 months ago whilst taking the inventory. The parts I had oiled and wrapped in cling film were free from corrosion.
I spoke to friends and my inspector and we agreed that it would be OK to use a fine grit blaster facility at my work to remove loose powder coat and rust and then dry immediateley and coat it with Red Oxide and then Hamerite paint.
Van's agreed to this procedure and also to refund the cost of the materials.
The grit blaster worked great and hopefully the corrosion protection we applied will be good for many years to come.
