To register the project with the PFA send an email to say you want to register a build. They will send a yellow registration card, which I completed.
After parting with your registration fee you receive back the austere Build Logbook which is a legal record of the construction. Also included is your project number, list of inspectors and builders, type acceptance data sheet, mandatory permit directives, mod sheets, concession sheets, manufactures service bulletins, release notes and CAA registration application.
You can register the aircraft once you have purchased the first item of the kit or when its completed, the choice is yours. As I went for a personalised registration (the initials of the family - Jill Bob Toby and Robin) I registerd straightaway using an up to date form from the CAA website. The CAA were very efficient and I received back my registration very quickly
