At the forward end of each skirt there was a slight gap in the curvature so I added several layers of 2", 1 1/2 and 1" tape.
Sanded back the next day and the match is good enough for me. (Better is the enemy of good enough)
The skirt surface was pretty smooth (compared to the cowl!) So I removed any mold release with green scotch brite and thinners. Then I applied the filler/primer (see cowl section for full details) and later that day some quick dry filler with a Stanley knife blade to fill some of the obvious pin holes.
