Brief Description:  50 Hr Service - Whoops Nut Loose

During the 50 hour check I looked at the throttle quadrant for correct movement and operation of the friction lever and noticed that no threads were showing on the lever retaining nut. I rotated the nut and discovered it was loose. But How?

During the build I applied inspection lacquer to nuts that I had tightened to show it had been torqued. So how did this escape? Quite easily by the looks of it.

Not a reall nasty as the bolt head is retained in a bolt shaped nutplate so it could not have come out - the worst that would have happened was the friction lever and the nut would have dropped out. Still loose articles in a plane not a good idea!

I fitted a thin 365-1032 nut and tightened it up properly. Value of the 50 hr check though.
