Due to a strong crosswind at Headcorn I elected to fly back to Haverfordwest directly after the flypast.
Upon my return I opened the USB stick containing Alans logbook that Martin (Alans son) had scanned. It was fascinating to read and then when I saw his monthly summary for July 1945 I opened up mine to see that exactly 40 years apart we had made the same monthly summary for our time on 79 Squadron - the only 2 RAF pilots in the family and this event occurred - amazing!
My one big regret is I didn't get to spend more time talking to Uncle Alan about his time in the RAF. The one great thing is he wrote his memoires and I can't wait to read them once they are typed up.
