Brief Description:  Uncle Alans Funeral - Part One

In September 2012 when JBTR first flew I had the pleasure of meeting my Uncle Alan when I flew down to Headcorn in Kent (my log entry is here ).

Sadly Alan passed away in September and I said to his family that I wanted to do a flypast as a salute to a fellow RAF Pilot. I stayed with Bob and Marian (Alans daughter) and I also met up with Martin (Alans son) and his wife Carolyn and Bob and Marians daughter Elspeth (Ellie) for dinner.

Alans family had organised a RAF Standard Bearer to lead the courtege up the drive of the crematorium, which I thought was a fantastic idea, and I made a smoke on flypast in JBTR. The area was surrounded by trees but I knew if I flew directly over and climbed I could do a slow roll salute that people could see. Google Earth is so great for planning.

I was pleased to hear that all went well and it was a great honour to be part of Alans goodbye.
