At the time of this log I have been working for the Milford Haven Oil refinery for 7 years and 6 of those have been under the ownership of Murco, whose HQ is at St Albans north of London. 18 months ago I became a Trustee of the Murco Pension Scheme and recently had to vist the HQ to conduct some pension talks.
My previous assumption of St Albans was that of a London suburb. I never realised how old it was and the similarity to parts of York. We also ate in a lovely Morrocon restaraunt so I suggested to Jill we pay it a visit.
The nearset hard surface airfield (we have had a lot of rain in the UK recently) was Elstree. It is a little rundown but at 650 m and a short taxi ride from a nearby station it is perfectly located for visiting London and St Albans.
We took the opportunity of a break in the recent relentless attack of weather fronts and I think the photos speak for themselves. What an etheral flight both going and coming home. I'm not a religous person but I can still appreciate the magnificence of the St Albans cathedral and what it must have been like before Henry the 8th butchered it. Oh and Jill loved the Morrocon restaraunt (Little Marakesh). A great start to our 2014 touring adventures.
