We returned from the racing/Madness concert at Newmarket into a Precision Navigation Competition organised by Malcolm Evans (Chairman of the Pembrokeshire Flying Club). It involved being given a set of turning points, photographs and a time to start/finish with points for timing and correct identification of the photos.
The navigating is done on a 1/4 million map (something I had not done for 30 years apart from a practice the previous week) and it was really hardwork- but great fun - doing something different. After the finish we landed at Rosemarket strip (5 miles south of our home airfield) and is between two fairways! As you can see from the photo this summer is doing us proud - mind you we've eaned it after the last six abysmal ones!
Post report We came first helped by arriving from Newmarket overhead the start point 1 second early and within 8 secs at the finish. Well pleased.
