today i extended the side edges of the top cowl. i mixed some mill fibers into the resin and added about an inch on each side. after they set up i sanded and layed some 9 oz glass over the inside to reinforce the extensions. most of this will get removed when i match the top to the bottom, but i want a nice seam here and this is the only way to achieve it. i wish vans had a little better quality control on these parts. i seriously considered chucking the whole thing and getting a sam james cowl. if i was doing it again i would not get the vans cowl, and would get a sam james. i still have a load of work on the cowl to go.
