i made some spacers that are exactly 1.62 inches long, which is the distance the whirlwind spinner sits forward of the flywheel face. i then put on a piece of wood that is 13 inches to simulate the spinner. then i set the top cowl up to see how much space i'd have at the rear for trimming. not much, but enough. i set the gap at the spinner at 1/4 ".
