Prior to cutting the holes in the cowl, I made molds to capture the contour of the cowl . To do this, I simply applied a layer of packing tape to the cowl where I needed to capture the contour. I than applied about 6 layers of 7 oz fiberglass to cover a sufficiently large area. I then pulled the mold off the cowl and cleaned up the edges. After the holes were cut, I used a marker to show where the covers needed to be. I then applied 6 layers of glass to the inside of the molde to make the cover. Prior to applying the glass, I secured a couple of countersunk washers where the screws would go through. This molded the wahers into the cover so that they would not be visible after painting.
