I chose to use the Infinity Aerospace grips for both the pilot and copilot grips. After looking over the various list archives, many of which suggest using simpler controls, I decided to use these grips anyway. I felt that the fingertip control of trim, radio, and autopilot was worth the complexity introduced.
I still wanted the copilot stick to be removable, however. I decided the best way to do this was to find a connector that fit inside the stick tube. I found an Hitachi connector that would do the job. The connector is a 13 position connector, so I had to have the standard grips rewired to eliminate redundant grounds. JD from Infinity Aerospace was very accomodating in this regard. When I received the grips and looked at the wire and the connector contacts, I realized I would have to rewire the grips to use 22 gauge wire throughout. I also needed to coil the wire so that the connector would slide in and out of the tube.
