My first attempt was to remove a 3/4" section of the snorkel where it is mostly horizontal. i through this would sufficiently reduce the width so that I would be closer to the desired position. I marked the snorkel so that I could reassemble the snorkel easily. I attached the snorkel halves together using aluminum plates and clecos. I then applied 2 layers of fiberglass across the joint to reassemble the halves.
